Great 35mm color negative film processing and scanning, and great film selection. Go for the high resolution scans. Most processing was done in 2 hours.
I also got some cinefilm and slide film processed, but those took 2 weeks and I think it was handled by a different shop. There were issues with a few slides. But to be fair, the slides that came out well look fantastic.
I love this place! Found them when I was back for a short visit. Reasonably priced cameras, really helpful and knowledgeable staff, easy going and no pressure to make a sale! More than happy to let you have a play around with the cameras. Even tried to translate all the terms to English for me (I didn't learnt camera terminology in Cantonese). Would highly recommend them. AND THEY HAVE A STORE CAT!! what else are you asking for?
This is a great place to buy camera film; the selection was fantastic and the prices reasonable, as is the cost of developing and scanning.
There is also a great selection of film cameras too... A rare treat in this day and age.
It would be nice if there was more in the way of used accessories (tripods etc) but maybe they just don't get offered such things. The customer service is a little disappointing, in my opinion, but par for the course in HK... Which is why they only get 3 stars.
It’s a fun store to browse. Even the way to get to this store is kinda interesting. The stairs are narrow and the lift seems like a portal gate to another universe lol. And it indeed lead you to a different universe which is something I like in Hongkong.
The staffs are helpful here and I had no pressure to make a purchase. (Even though I ended up buying a 2000+HKD camera. Well…I’m traveling, cant help😂)
The price is fair, at least in HK I suppose. I did find some cheaper ones on eBay that ship from Japan. So if you want to find some good deals, this may not be the best place, but I prefer the experience to browse and buy in store.
Wonderful photo shop in Mong Kok. There is a great selection of film and used camera gear. Very pleasant staff. Would encourage stopping by.
We stumbled upon SHOWA during a one-week stay in Hong Kong and it was definitely one of the best finds in the city! The store offers a fantastic array of film cameras, lenses and different rolls of film, and the staff is really knowledgeable and friendly. They even threw in developing a roll of film for free with our purchase of a camera, a lens, and five rolls of film. We will be back!

Got my olympus film camera there, and I always go there to develop my pics. Never had any quality problem and the staff is always friendly and answers all the questions about different cameras.
